A Foot of Champagne Powder Snow Blankets Ski Town, U.S.A®

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO- February 13, 2010- Mother Nature loves Steamboat, and it's apparent that she has chosen the northern Colorado town as her vacation spot for this Valentine's Day. A three day storm that moved into the area on Wednesday has produced a foot of Champagne Powder™ snow, making Steamboat the place to ski and snowboard this holiday weekend.

"The new snow is the perfect excuse to gather the family and bring them up to Steamboat for the long weekend," said Chris Diamond, president and chief operating officer for the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. "Steamboat is known for having some of the best snow in the Rocky Mountains and we are excited to have a fresh coat of our legendary Champagne Powder waiting for our guests."

The resort is currently in a storm cycle that as of 5am this morning has yielded 7" at mid mountain and 7.5" at the summit overnight; 10" and 11.5" in past 48-hours and 12" and 13.5" in the past three days at mid-mountain and the summit respectively. Steamboat has received 155 inches of snow this winter, with snow falling 9 out of 13 days in February. The resort is reporting a 47-inch base at mid-mountain and 54-inch base at the summit with powder conditions.

Steamboat will usher in Valentine's Day and President's Weekend with powder conditions on all 165 trails; 2965 acres of skiing and riding terrain, and 16 of 18 chair lifts. Snow continues to fall Saturday morning and forecasts are calling for additional snow throughout the weekend, with 5-11 inches of accumulation possible at the summit of Mt. Werner.

Champagne Powder isn't the only thing worth celebrating in Steamboat, Ski Town, U.S.A® is cheering on 17 athletes participating in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
