Steamboat enjoys new snow for opening weekend!
The official opening day to the 2007-2008 winter season in Steamboat was this past Saturday. By Sunday morning there were 12 inches of new snow that had fallen in a 24 hour period. The new snow had visitors and locals alike vibrating with anticipation as they waited for the new Christie Peak Express (the brand new 6 passenger chairlift) to haul them up the mountain Sunday morning. As of Monday morning, the resort was reporting a base of 21”, 13 open trails, with three lifts and a rail park to the right of Eagle’s Nest. With snow in the forecast nearly every of the next 10 days, conditions should improve and additional terrain should open very soon.
