97th Annual Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival

Winter Carnival

When: February 3-7, 2010

What do you get when you cover Main Street with snow, send the high school marching band through town on skis, follow them with a bunch of horses dragging kids on skis and snowboards, top it off with an evening full of fireworks and a crazy guy skiing down the hill with explosives strapped to his back? It could only be one thing! That's right...the 97th Annual Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival is right around the corner.

This annual celebration includes a variety of events that embrace our western heritage and highlight Steamboat's tradition of winter sports. The festivities include such events as: Ski Jumping competitions, a Snowboarding Jam Session, the Soda Pop Slalom, a Tubing Party, the Diamond Hitch Parade which includes the High School band on skis, the Street Events on Lincoln Avenue, and the Night Extravaganza at Howelsen Hill with a brilliant fireworks display and the famous Lighted Man.

Ski Town USA's Olympian Send-Off

Olympian Send-Off

When: February 5, 2010

Steamboat has earned the designation of Ski Town USA by sending more Winter Olympians to The Games than any other town in North America. So it is no surprise that Steamboat has also become known as, (athletically), the Official Supplier to the US Ski Team. The Olympian Send-Off will take place downtown and will feature athletes named to the Olympic teams, a "Community Cauldron", fireworks, an aerial show and an autograph session. The 2010 Olympian Send-Off takes place on February 5th and coincides with the 97th Annual Winter Carnival. In 2002, over 5,000 people gathered to embrace and celebrate the community's Olympians, just four years later in 2006, over 10,000 people were in attendance. Make sure you are here this year for an incredible and memorable evening.
